Chuck Norton

On August 10, 2010, I published a book called “Building a Better Website.” The name sucks.

Ironically, I had originally intended for my self-published book – which walked users through the process of designing and building a website – to be called “Your Website Sucks.” That better name just felt too intense for my personality. So I renamed it. And after 15 sales in the first (and only) year alone, I realized it didn’t really matter what the name was.

It was a rewarding project, and well worth the year it took to produce. It even led to some business. But it never went any direction but behind me.

It is still on amazon.

To this day, it feels relevant to businesses that need to build a website from scratch (admittedly rare in 2021). It focuses on how to hire great talent to build a website, and lead them in building the perfect website.

I continually see small businesses make the same mistakes when finding and managing web contractors. I guess the book idea was conceptually good, just poorly marketed. Which might mean that it deserved its fate.
